Reading the site

Reading AccentMatch.US needs no account and sets no cookies until you choose to open the real-speech player. Your browser keeps two preferences on your own device only (in localStorage): your light/dark theme choice and the last language pair you opened. These preference values are stored only in your browser and are not transmitted to us. Fonts and images are served from this site; no third-party scripts are loaded until you choose to open the real-speech player, and no third-party fonts are loaded.

We count page views and entry visits by page and country to see how the site is used. Your IP address is used only briefly, to look up the country and to limit abuse; it is not stored in our statistics. Nothing is stored on your device for this.

The site is hosted by Railway Corporation (railway.com), which acts as our processor and keeps standard request logs (IP address, requested page, time) for security and operation. Log retention follows the hosting plan in use, currently {retention per Railway plan: to be confirmed by the owner}; we do not export or analyse these logs.

Word recordings and real-speech video

Word recordings are served by AccentMatch.US. YouGlish and YouTube load only after you choose the real-speech player. They receive your selected word and browser connection information and may store or access cookies or other device information. Their handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy and YouGlish Privacy Policy. Closing the player stops playback but does not erase cookies already set.

Ratings, comments and language wishes

These features are coming soon. When they arrive, they will require an email registration, and this notice will be updated (with a new version number) before any personal data is collected.
